Modern marketing came into limelight in the mid 19th century. In these times, companies and businesses were looking for a better and faster way of making customers buy their products. 

The invention of mass media and other communication channels such as newspapers, TV, and the radio facilitated the mass marketing of goods and services.

The evolution of markets and marketing as a concept has been real. It has had a positive and negative impact on how consumers access and buy goods and services. 

Because of marketing, a consumer can purchase a product that they never wanted. On the other hand, marketing also helps consumers to be aware of new products and services available in a flooded market.

Let’s say that I have come up with an idea of products I would like to get to the market. I am not likely to succeed with the product if I don’t market it to the target customers. 

I would start by introducing a marketing team to conduct some research on the market and establish whether my product has a position in the market. 

Here are some important questions that the marketing team should be able to answer when you introduce a new product to the market:

  • Who are my target customers?
  • Which are the main competitors for the product?
  • How can my marketing team design a marketing message that will reach my customers and increase the sale of my product?
  • How should I develop the product to make it more preferable by consumers?

Marketing provides answers to all the above questions. Also, it helps every business to understand what it should do to make their products more competitive in the market.

2- Price

Price is the monetary value of a product or service. It is not easy to establish how much money a customer is willing to pay for a product without carrying out a survey or market research. 

A marketing team will find out what your competitors are charging for a similar product. Also, they can carry out some surveys to set the price of the product. 

Also, the team can use consumer analysis and industry research to come up with a price that they consider more reasonable to customers.

Promotion entails all communications that target informing the customer about the existence of a product or service and where exactly they can get it. 

It includes all activities and strategies such as print advertising, social media promotions, and discount marketing that a marketing team launches to introduce a product or service to the market.
